Questel has committed its support to help crisis-affected people communicate in a language they understand by partnering at the Gold Sponsor level with Translators without Borders. Translators without Borders (TWB) provides vital information in a relevant language to those affected by emergencies such as the Ebola crisis, cyclones in Mozambique and the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Questel employees are encouraged to volunteer time to Translators without Borders, with the example set within the management team. Jeremy Coombs, Vice President of Global Operations at Questel, has personally lent time to Translators without Borders projects for several years. “It is rewarding to now be able to participate on a corporate level with Translators without Borders, which fills such a vital need to displaced individuals,” he said. “In my experience, professionally trained linguists care about those who are struggling and want to contribute their skills and abilities to causes that make a difference,” he added.

As part of a drive instituted by its CEO, Charles Besson, Questel is pleased to add Translators without Borders to its growing list of outreach partners. “We are delighted to be able to help TWB address this very real need, which is a natural fit with our other core giving projects focused on France, India, Peru, Singapore, and the United States to date” said Mr. Besson. “Questel’s philosophy is to invest in a new project every 6 months and this sponsorship of TWB allows us to continue our focus on both children in need and localities where we can make a real impact,” he continued.

Playing an integral role in the IP process, Questel has long applied its expertise to intellectual property applications which help make the world a better place by enabling the distribution of lifesaving technologies and quality of life enhancing innovations.

Since 2011, TWB has translated over 50 million words in over 250 language pairs in the areas of crisis relief, health and education. The financial support provided by sponsors is critical to sustaining and growing the non-profit organization. “In the course of our work, we’ve become aware of a huge need, which is for those who speak marginalized languages to be able to access knowledge in their own language,” explains Aimee Ansari, Executive Director, TWB. “We are incredibly grateful to Questel for this assistance, which is critical to support more humanitarian work around the globe,” Ansari adds.
